and it was not; it was Mr. Middleburg. I knew Mr. Middlebrook
had long left the Colony.
Secretary: It was on the 21st of February, I have a copy of your
minute.
Mr. Smith: That is the one. I don't know what action I took on it.
Chairman: Just 30 days after its execution. May I ask one
apparently quite unnecessary question? If any branch of
Government is, with the approval of the parent Government, con-
tracting with any outside person, is it not the usual practice
to entrust the preparation of that agreement and its terms to
the Crown Solicitor?
Mr. Smith: The answer is certainly yes. Unless, of course, it is
a private matter.
Chairman:
Thank you, Mr. Smith.
Chairman: Mr. Pudney will not be available this afternoon, but the
three of us are available on Saturday morning at 10 o'clock and
I hope that we can then take the evidence of Mr. Zudney and sucn
questions as you wish to put, dr. Forrest. This Court will be
available at 10 o'clock on Saturday morning.
Unless, of course,
Mr. Pudney is then unable to come, and if so you will have timely
notice.
